Fractal is a creature subtype introduced for Strixhaven: School of Mages which mainly appears on tokens. A fractal is a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Quandrix magic can abstract and replicate these patterns of nature into artificial life forms.

Description

Fractal creatures are created as mascots by the Quandrix College students of Strixhaven University on the plane of Arcavios. Because they are essentially formulaic representations of creatures brought to life, they can be mathematically scaled in size from tiny to enormous, making them effective companions for mages who use them as playthings, pets, helpers, and allies in combat.[1]

Fractal creature tokens always have a base power and toughness of 0/0 and can come with any amount of +1/+1 counters. Each of the fourteen Fractal creators has a unique way of determining its token's size.

Lore

Quandrix dean Kianne says the following: '“Fractals are just pseudo-dimensional manifestations of asynchronous biosymmetries. It’s really quite simple.”[2]
