Monkey is a creature type used for cards depicting relatively small primates usually having a flat, hairless face. Unlike the larger apes, monkeys usually do have tails and predominantly live in trees.
History
The first creatures to bear the type were Tree Monkey from Portal Second Age and Zodiac Monkey from: Portal Three Kingdoms. These were changed to Apes in the Ninth Edition Core Set, although this was scientifically incorrect.
The change was reversed when Wily Bandar was introduced in Kaladesh. At the same time Ravenous Baboons and the tokens of Monkey Cage had their creature type changed, as well.[2][3][4]
