type:"Undead" |
Undead is an obsolete creature type that appeared on three cards from the Weatherlight set: Hidden Horror, Odylic Wraith and Urborg Stalker. In the Grand Creature Type Update these were changed to creature type Horror, Wraith, and Horror respectively.
Description
"Undead" is a general classification for beings that are created or reanimated from the mortal remains of living creatures for different purposes, using black mana mainly,[1] though spirits are more often associated with white and some types of zombies are generated through white and blue.
Purposes for creating undead may vary, but in general terms may be for:
- Cursing or punishing a mortal
- Extending a mortal's life span
- Reanimating a mortal to gain advantage of its biological abilities from the body, or knowledge from its experiences
Phyrexians are probably the most unique type of undead beings, being biomechanical, soulless entities made of rotting tissue and metal curated and infected through the Glistening oil.
