Gith is a creature subtype introduced in Magic: the Gathering with the crossover Dungeons & Dragons Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set.

Description

Gith are tall and emaciated-looking humanoids. They have pale yellow skin, sometimes with greenish or brownish tones. Their skulls are long and angular, with deep-set eyes, flattened noses, and pointed, serrated ears. Typical hair colors included black, red, russet, and sometimes gray.

History

The gith were enslaved by mind flayers for countless generations. Some claim they were once descended from humans, while others maintain that their original race is unknown. After breaking free from their enslavement, philosophical differences led to a bitter internal conflict, which divided the gith into two main different races at constant odds with each other: the militaristic githyanki, who primarily reside in the Astral Sea, and the ascetic githzerai, who primarily reside in Limbo.
