Codie is an animated codex associated with the Biblioplex of Strixhaven University on Arcavios.
History
The Codex Vocifera is an ancient tome filled with complex and arcane mystical knowledge that has, over centuries, developed a rather grouchy form of self-awareness. It roams the halls of the university in a perpetual state of annoyance, frequently reading passages from its pages aloud. Should it notice someone showing interest in its contents, the Codex will relentlessly follow that person for hours, often causing considerable frustration.
There are differing theories about the origin of the Codex. Some suggest it is the unintended outcome of a Lorehold ritual involving spirit summoning that went awry, while others consider it nothing more than a cosmic prank. The Codex strongly dislikes its student-bestowed nickname, "Codie," but ironically, its vocal objections only ensured the name stuck.[1][2]
Notably, Codie played a key role in informing Zimone Wola about the fate of her grandmother, Nimiroti Wola.[3]
