Spellcaster

A spellcaster is one of the five main jobs which can cast spells, one for each color.[1]
History
The original division into five jobs (Cleric, Wizard, Warlock, Shaman and Druid) was completed with the introduction of warlock for Black in Throne of Eldraine in 2019 and fully implemented in Strixhaven: School of Mages (2021).[2]
In 2026, Sorcerer was reintroduced in Lorwyn Eclipsed — after its removal during the Grand Creature Type Update at the time of Lorwyn (2007) — to replace Shaman as the default red spellcaster.[3] Overall, Sorcerer is not meant as a one-for-one replacement for Shaman, but the usage of Shaman is intended to be greatly lowered and carefully used such that it is not culturally offensive, and Sorcerer helps fill in the gap.[4][5]
