Caribou is a seldom used creature type that represents a large deer native to the arctic, subarctic, tundra, boreal, and mountainous regions.

Description

Caribou was introduced as a creature type in Ice Age on Caribou Range, which creates Caribou tokens. They exited on Dominaria during the Ice Age. Caribou has remained exclusive to Caribou Range and no other cards have used the creature type.

External to Magic, the terms "caribou" and "reindeer" usually refer to the same animal species, Rangifer tarandus.[1] Within Magic, caribou stand as a separate species following the printing of Rimefur Reindeer (Wilds of Eldraine) as an Elk.
