Gorilla is an obsolete token creature type for a race herbivorous, predominantly ground-dwelling great apes that inhabit tropical forests. It was later used again as a test card exclusive creature type.

History

Gorilla was originally introduced as a creature type in Alliances. Later in the Grand Creature Type Update, the creature type was incorporated in the Ape type. The type reappeared on Gorilla Tactics, a test card in the Mystery Booster set that created Gorilla tokens.

Storyline

Gorillas are common on Dominaria; the apes of Yavimaya are sapient and engage in a form of ancestor worship that draws strength from their forebears.[1]. Zendikar features gorillas on Skyfang Peak of Akoum known as Summit Apes. Ikoria features Tigorillas, a tiger and gorilla hybrid with its back half being like a tiger and its front half being like a gorilla. On Kamigawa, the Kami of Industry is a kami that takes the appearance of a large white furred gorilla with six arms. The majority of Fang Druids of Muraganda are gorillas, though there are other great apes who they count among their numbers
