Sponge is a blue creature type that represents aquatic, chiefly marine animals, which have a porous structure and usually a horny, siliceous or calcareous internal skeleton. They occur in large, sessile colonies.

Description

Sponge debuted as a creature type on Walking Sponge from Urza's Legacy and later was seen again on Thought Sponge in Commander 2019.

Scientifically speaking, there is no such thing as a walking sponge, both Magic: The Gathering sponges are shown to be mobile.

Trivia

• SpongeBob SquarePants was created as a skinned card without the sponge type as there are no legendary sponges currently.
