Guardian is an obsolete creature class. Guardians are creatures that guard, protect, or preserve.
History
The first creature to bear the type was Guardian Beast from Antiquities. The subtype was obsoleted in the Grand Creature Type Update.

Trivia
- Ivory Guardians used to give a bonus to all Guardians. It now gives the bonus to just "creatures named Ivory Guardians".
- Opal Acrolith (Urza's Saga) and Opal Avenger (Urza's Legacy) now become a Soldier, instead of a Guardian.
- On Ravnica, the Simic Hybrids are also known as "Guardians", the first of them being Roalesk
