Banshee is an obsolete creature type for cards that represented a type of female spirit that heralds death by screaming.

Description

Banshee debuted as a creature type in The Dark on the eponymous named Banshee. During the Grand Creature Type Update, the type was made obsolete and replaced with spirit.

Banshees have appeared on various planes including Dominaria, Innistrad, and Ravnica. On Dominaria, some say banshees act like hounds by herding people into the arms of death. Their screams can sometimes cause people's ears to bleed. On Ravnica, their wails can sometimes be heard in the alleys and under-eaves of the city. On Innistrad, it is said that banshees are the spirits of those who died with grudges in their heart.

Trivia

• Banshee has never been physically re-printed with its new type line though was digitally on Magic Online with the release of Masters Edition III.
