Coyote is a creature type for cards that depict small canines that live in deserts.
History
Coyote first appeared as a type in Outlaws of Thunder Junction on Cunning Coyote. Due to this, they are known to inhabit Thunder Junction. A type of Coyote Elemental Calamity Beast known as the Driftgloom Coyote later appeared on Bloomburrow. It was elemental fog in the form of a giant coyote.
Coyote became its type instead of just being dog due to how people naturally separate them in common vernacular. While lions and tigers are often referred to as big cats thus becoming part of that type, people don't normally refer to wolves and coyotes as “dogs”. Thus, they each became a type.[1]
