type:"Ooze"

Ooze is a creature type used for cards that depict unintelligent, amorphous blobs of slime that exist only to consume whatever falls into their path, getting stronger in the process.

Description

Mechanically, oozes deal primarily in +1/+1 counters, with some other designs reflecting unusual growth or corrosive body properties. The first card to bear the type was Primordial Ooze in Legends. Oozes appear in all colors, except white.

Other examples of Ooze creature cards include Consumptive Goo, Bioplasm, Vile Bile and Acidic Slime.

Distribution

Oozes are known to exist or have existed on the following planes

Muraganda

Muragandan oozes are strange creatures of myriad suspected origins that are iconic to the plane.[1] Ley mages assume oozes to be a planar antibody of sorts, born from some deep place on Muraganda in response to the birth of magic on the plane. Scar witches claim oozes are moon-ruin entities who crashed down to the plane in the first moonfall and are refreshed with each subsequent impact. The saurids claim they are the living essence of their venerated ancestors, beings coalesced from the matter of the afterlife who carry in them the wisdom of past divine autarchs. The Telu-Set know oozes to be horrors and nightmares, insatiable creatures who steal children from their beds and swallow villages in slow-moving tides. The Fang Druids see them as walking cultivar engines, time capsule–like terrariums that carry inside them veritable vaults of curious, unique vegetation.

Oozes can be found in every biome on Muraganda, ranging in size from droplets to walking lakes.[1] Likewise, their intelligence ranges: Oozes are containers that shape themselves to the memory of the beings they consume. The most intelligent among them are those who have consumed sentient beings — typically saurids via honored sacrifice or humans through misfortune — and display a rudimentary intelligence, echoing the being whose remains they process slowly and memories they absorb into their being.
