Constable is an obsolete creature type job for a person who maintains the peace and enforces law usually within smaller towns or communities.
History
Constable debuted as a creature type in Homelands on the card An-Havva Constable which depicts a member of the Constables of An-Havva. The type was later dropped in the Grand Creature Type Update, and it was given errata to be a Human without any specific job.[1] It has never been reprinted with its new type line.
Storyline
Dominaria
In the storyline, the Constables of An-Havva were famous constables who protected An-Havva and who helped keep the peace in the pioneer towns around the Great Wood. They prevent the towns from falling into anarchy.[2]
The Cephalid were also known to have constables who were wizards that were said to police loyalties rather than solely the peace.
Innistrad
Innistrad features stern constables in some of their towns who act as guards.
Unknown
An unknown plane has Constable of the Realm who appear as giants wearing a uniform of metal armor.
