Processor is a job exclusive to Eldrazi and is associated with Ulamog's brood. It was introduced alongside Scion in Battle for Zendikar.
History
Processors are both a mechanical marker type and effectively a class for Eldrazi. All Processors have an ability that requires you to put your opponent's exiled cards into their graveyard for some effect.[2] Of the eleven creatures, eight use one exiled card at a time and three use two. Battle for Zendikar uses Ingesting creatures to fuel these Processors, alongside a collection of exiling interactive spells. The mechanic is largely in blue-black, with one green card. Processor Assault is a related sorcery that uses the same mechanical cost, and is the only processing ability in red. During design, this mechanic was known as "digest" or "process".[3]
The mechanical implementation of Processing was difficult primarily because finding effects that fit the narrow requirements of the mechanic were tricky.[1] Compounding this was the need for additional exile support within a Limited or Standard environment. With such strong ties to the Processor creature type, and flavor ties to Ulamog, Mark believes it unlikely for Processor to return.[1]
