Dragonfly is an obsolete creature type which represented an order of flying insects with a pair of large compound eyes, two pairs large transparent wings, and an elongated body.

Description

Dragonfly debuted as a creature type in Legends on Emerald Dragonfly. The type remained until the Grand Creature Type Update when it was consolidated into the Insect type. Several other dragonflies have been printed as insects.

Storyline

Dragonflies have appeared in the background art for cards on various planes including Bloomburrow, Ikoria, Lorwyn, Ravnica, Tarkir, and Zendikar.

Several types of dragonflies exist on Dominaria, including the Bayou Dragonfly, Emerald Dragonfly, and Venomous Dragonfly.

Kamigawa

On Kamigawa, during the time of the Neon Dynasty, there are large mechs that are known as Dragonflies.
