Tarpan is an obsolete creature type for a species of horse that inhabited colder climates on Dominaria.
History
Tarpan originally debuted as a type in Ice Age on the eponymously named Tarpan. It was reprinted in Fifth Edition with the same type. During the Grand Creature Type Update, the type was made obsolete and given errata to just be a Horse.[1]
Storyline
Dominaria
The Tarpan was last seen to have lived during the Ice Age of Dominaria. They appear as slightly more furry brown horses, making them more adapted to colder climates. General Jarkeld was said to state that a good Tarpan will serve its rider, faithful and true, while a bad one will kick them in the head.[2] It is not known if they survived the Thaw.
Trivia
- Tarpan has never been reprinted with its new type line.
- In the real world, Tarpan refers to an extinct free-ranging horse population of the Eurasian steppe from the 18th to 20th century.
