Survivor is a rarely used job, depicting people remaining alive after an event in which others have died. It first appeared on tokens in Alliances.
History
From its introduction until Duskmourn: House of Horror the type only appeared on tokens related to General Varchild of Kjeldor. First in Alliances, and later in Commander 2018.
The creature type finally appeared on nontoken cards in Duskmourn: House of Horror, where it was used for creators with the Survival mechanic.[1]
Storyline
Dominaria
During the Ice Age of Dominaria, the traitorous General Varchild of Kjeldor performed countless raids on Balduvia which only left a handful of Survivors.
Duskmourn
On Duskmourn, the Survivors are all those who have not been converted or killed by the House yet.
Trivia
- Fourteen creatures have "survivor" in their name, but do not have the creature type.[2] Flavorfully, they are given out to escapees of calamitous events, most notably the Hour of Devastation of Amonkhet.
