Champion is a test card-only creature class used to represent those who fight for a cause or on behalf of someone else.

History

Champion debuted as a creature type in 2024 on Runed Terror as part of Mystery Booster 2 test cards. The card itself was created as a reference to Legends of Runeterra where Champions are a type of unit.

On eternal cards the term champion has been used as a title in various soldier, knight, and warrior cards. The Theriad, an epic poem on Theros, is about the Champions of Heliod.
