Description

The event cards feature playtest stickers, looking and functioning like the test cards of the Mystery Booster set. Being playtest stickers, the cards have no art, artist credits, or Collector number, and are marked with internal card codes.

Chicago 2024 cards

A total of 49 new cards were designed for this event by Gavin and the team. Three cards were designed at the You Make the Card panel on the Friday before the first event. Each of the Legendary creatures had a single word as flavor text. Together these words combined to create the ability text for the prize card, The Collector.

The Asker of More Mana	RW35	Legendary Creature — Human Soldier Any time a player would pay a mana cost for anything, it costs more mana to activate. (This includes casting spells, activating abilities, turning face-down creatures face up, paying for Ghostly Prison, the weird ability on Quenchable Fire, etc.) LENGTH 3/3	Represents One More Mana. The ability is a reference to the Stax or Prison deck archetype that seeks to disrupt opponents by forcing them to pay additional mana or denying them enough mana, to play their spells.
The Curve Keeper	RW47	Legendary Creature — Human Soldier Creatures you control get +X/+0, where X is the greatest number of consecutive nonland, nontoken permanents in a mana curve you control. (For example, if you have permanents with mana value 3, 4, and 5, creatures you control get +3/+0. If you're missing 4, they only get +1/+0.) THE 3/3	Represents Chase Caroll, ManaCurves. Rewards players who "curve out".
Identify the Culprit	UW02	Sorcery Secretly chose a creature target opponent controls. Then, that player guesses which creature it is. Reveal the chosen creature. If they guessed incorrectly, exile the creature you chose. Otherwise, return Identify the Culprit to its owner's hand and you can't cast it again this turn.	Originally designed by Alexander Smith.
Illuminating Detective	CW01	Creature — Insect Detective When Illuminating Detective enters the battlefield, each of your opponents reveal all of their commanders. If their commanders were already revealed, put a flying counter on this creature. 2/2	Part of the Detective cycle, utilizing the event's face down commander rule.
The Keeper of Favorite Cards	RW90	Legendary Creature — Human Soldier When The Keeper of Favorite Cards enters the battlefield or attacks, name a nonland card and write it on your favorites list for this game. (You can have limitless favorites.) Your favorite creatures get +1/+0. Whenever you cast a favorite noncreature spell, create a 1/1 white Soldier creature token. CARD. 2/3	Represents Shivam Bhatt.
The Knight of Weeks	RW06	Legendary Creature — Human Knight Lifelink, vigilance, first strike At the beginning of your combat step and whenever another Knight enters the battlefield under your control, put a day counter on The Knight of Weeks. The Knight of Weeks gets +7/+7 for every seven day counters on it. A 1/1	Represents Rachel Weeks of The Command Zone and Game Knights.
Windy City Elemental	UW05	Creature — Elemental Flying Ascend MagicCon Chicago (If you attended MagicCon Chicago and control ten or more permanents, you get the windy city's blessing for the rest of the game.) Whenever Windy City Elemental attacks, if you have the windy city's blessing, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control with flying. 4/4	References Chicago's nickname - the Windy City.
The Crab Queen	RU38	Legendary Creature — Crab Human Whenever The Crab Queen attacks, create a token that's a copy of one of the following at random: Skitter Eel; Skittering Crustacean; Ruin Crab; Charix, the Raging Isle; Scuttletide; or Heartstone. DIFFERENCE 1/6	Represents streamer Voxy, who has a long-running joke on her channel about crabs. The card's name and ability are a refernce to Voxy's appearance on episode 31 of Tolarian Community College's Shuffle Up & Play series, where she played a Charix, the Raging Isle Commander deck against The Professor, Amy the Amazonian and Lexi.
Disguise Agent	RU02	Creature — Vedalken Detective Commanders you own have disguise. Their disguise cost is equal to their mana cost. 1/3	The event's face-down commander rule allows the Murders at Karlov Manor mechanic to have relevance for commanders. It also provides players a way to cast commanders without paying the commander tax.
Educated Detective	CU04	Creature — Weird Detective , : Surveil 1. If all your commanders have been revealed, draw a card instead. 2/4	Part of the Detective cycle.
Elemental, My Dear	UU11	Sorcery Investigate X times, then create an 0/0 Blue Elemental creature token. Put +1/+1 counters on that token equal to the number of Clues you control.	References the well known saying associated with Sherlock Holmes — "Elementary, my dear Watson".
The Fish Brewer	RU42	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard When The Fish Brewer enters the battlefield or attacks, create a 1/1 Fish creature token that's all colors. If another permanent entering the battlefield causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, tap any number of Fish you control. That ability triggers an additional time for each Fish tapped this way. FROM 4/4	Represents Seth Waterman, SaffronOlive. The tokens created by the card are a reference to MTGGoldfish, the site that SaffronOlive regularly writes for, as multicolored cards are often referred to as "gold" cards.
Irrefutable Evidence	CU01	Instant Treat Irrefutable Evidence's mana value as 10 while it's in your graveyard. Draw a card. When you collect Irrefutable Evidence as evidence, draw a card.	Uses the freedom of test cards to play with the Collect evidence mechanic from Murders at Karlov Manor.
The Rhystic Storyteller	RU72	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard If The Rhystic Storyteller is your Commander, your deck can't use sleeves. Whenever you cast a spell with ten or more words of flavor text, draw a card unless an opponent pays . DISCARDED 2/3	Represents Sam Gaglio, Rhystic Studies. The card's first ability is a reference to the Rhystic Studies video Dear Gonti, Love Sophie | The Story of a Priceless Commander Deck, where Sam discusses the intersection of a Magic card's price and it's intangible value as an object of memories and experiences. The second ability uses the Rhystic mechanic, after the channel's namesake — Rhystic Study.
The Value Knight	RU07	Legendary Creature — Human Knight When The Value Knight enters the battlefield, create Syr Acha, a 1/1 legendary red artifact creature Food Knight token with ", , Sacrifice this token: You gain 3 life. Until end of turn, if you would draw a card, draw two cards instead." Whenever you draw a card, put a +1/+1 counter on The Value Knight. NAME 1/1	Represents Josh Lee Kwai of The Command Zone, and their gameplay subset Game Knights; refers to his love of sriracha sauce and blue controlling decks.
Bloodspatter Vampire	UB01	Creature — Vampire Flying If an opponent would create a Clue, they create a Blood instead. (It's an artifact with ", , Discard a card, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.") 2/1	The card transforms Clue tokens into Blood tokens as a nod to both Vampires in fiction and to Murders at Karlov Manor crime fiction theme. The card is also a minor reference to Blood Spatter Analysis from the main set.
Demon Detective	CB02	Creature - Demon Detective You can't cast Demon Detective unless all of your commanders have been revealed. Flying 4/4	Part of the Detective cycle.
The Disciple of Vess	RB54	Legendary Creature — Human Cleric Whenever The Disciple of Vess attacks, you may put a planeswalker card from your hand onto the battlefield. If you don't, create a token that's a copy of a Liliana planeswalker chosen at random. (There are currently thirteen. Perhaps look up the list and roll a D20?) PERSON 2/2	Represents Taalia Vess. The card, like her handle, is a combination of Kaalia of the Vast and Liliana Vess.
Halving Season	UB	Enchantment If an opponent would create one or more tokens, they create half that many of each of those kinds of tokens instead, rounded down. If an opponent would put one or more counters on a permanent or player, they put half that many of each of those kinds of counters on that permanent or player instead, rounded down.	An inverse version of the card Doubling Season. This card was a secret preview of the Mystery Booster 2 test cards.
Impressive Rat	UB03	Creature — Rat When Impressive Rat dies, put a hole counter on target land you don't control. Whenever that land becomes tapped, you investigate. (The land continues to intrigue.) 3/2	The card is a reference to the Chicago rat hole, while the reminder text is a reference to the widely popular "The land continues to burn..." reminder text on Obsidian Fireheart.
The Keeper of Dark Pacts	RB05	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 1 life and draw a card. Then, double the amount of life you lose and cards you draw for the rest of the game from this ability. (This is true even if this leaves the battlefield and returns.) WITH 4/4	Represents cosplay artist Evan Braun, Dark Pact Cosplay.
Life at Stake	CB11	Instant You and target creature's controller each secretly choose a number 0 or greater. Then, reveal the chosen numbers. If your number was highest or tied for the highest, exile that creature. Each player who chose the highest number loses that much life.	The card name is a pun based on the card's mechanics; either a player loses life or a creature loses its life. Gavin believes, in retrospect, the card needed to provide players with some additional value to make it worth the slot in a sealed deck.
Aggressive Detective	CR03	Creature — Minotaur Detective Whenever Aggressive Detective attacks, if all your commanders have been revealed, Aggressive Detective deals 2 damage to each opponent. 4/4	Part of the Detective cycle.
The Crafter	RR66	Legendary Artifact Creature — Human Affinity for artifacts When The Crafter enters the battlefield, create two colorless Scrap artifact tokens (They have no abilities.) , Sacrifice an artifact: Create an equipment token named Bling with "Equipped creature gets +1/+0" and "Equip ." THE 3/4	Represents Commander Rules Committee member, cosplay artist, and professional jeweller and metalleurgeon Olivia Gobert-Hicks. Her Twitch channel is named "affinityartifacts".
The Crimson Avenger	RR10	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard Flash When The Crimson Avenger enters the battlefield, choose target spell an opponent controls. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card that shares a mana value with it. Cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then shuffle your library. HAS 3/2	Represents Crim Nguyen, The Asian Avenger. Also forms a likely unintentional reference to the DC Comics character Crimson Avenger.
Guess Who it Is!	UR04	Sorcery Look at the top ten cards of target opponent's library and choose a creature card from among them. That opponent asks you five yes or no questions about that creature. (Answer truthfully!) Then that player chooses a card name. Reveal the card. If it doesn't have that name, put it onto the battlefield under your control. Then shuffle each card not put onto the battlefield this way into its owner's library.	Initiates a short game of Twenty Questions as a variation on threaten effects.
The Knight of Land Drops	RR08	Legendary Creature — Human Knight Partner with Knight (You may select any legendary Knight to be this creature's partner. It doesn't have to have Partner. You don't search for a Knight when this enters the battlefield.) Knights you control have haste and "At the beginning of your end step, if you didn't play a land this turn, you may discard a card, then draw a card." THAT 1/1	Represents of Jimmy Wong of The Command Zone and their show Game Knights. Somewhat facetiously known to flood out.
Ate-o'-Clock	UG03	Instant Populate. Proliferate. Investigate. Regenerate target creature. Replicate (When you cast this spell, copy it for each time you paid its replicate cost. You may choose new targets for the copy.)	A joke combining all keyword abilities ending in "ate".
The Bear Force Pilot	RG59	Legendary Creature — Bear Pilot When The Bear Force Pilot enters the battlefield, create a colorless artifact Vehicle token with flying, "This creature gets +1/+1 for each Bear you control," and crew 2. WHO 2/2	Represents Graham Stark of LoadingReadyRun. As printed, The Bear Force Pilot's ability does not define the Vehicle token's base Power/Toughness, leaving it with none. Gavin's video notes it should be a 0/0 token and that he nicknamed the token "Bear Force One". This card was "reprinted" with errata for the MagicCon Las Vegas 2024 event.
Investi-Gate	CG03	Sorcery Name two Ravnica Guilds. Create two copies that are copies of their gates. (Ravnica guildgates are lands that enter the battlefield tapped and tap for the two colors of the guild.) Investigate.	A pun using the Murders at Karlov Manor investigate mechanic and the Guildgates of Guilds of Ravnica block. The card also helps find missing mana colors for limited play.
Growing Detective	CG03	Creature — Dryad Detective At the beginning of your upkeep, if all your commanders have been revealed, put a +1/+1 counter on Growing Detective. 3/3	Part of the Detective cycle.
Primetime Suspect	UG02	Enchantment — Aura Enchant creature Whenever enchanted creature attacks, you may search your library for a land card, put that card onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle. If enchanted creature is suspected, you search for two lands instead	A reference to the common player nickname for Primeval Titan, "Prime Time", with "prime suspect".
The Roaring Toeclaws	RG63	Legendary Creature — Dinosaur Whenever The Roaring Toeclaws or another creature you control with mana value five or greater becomes untapped, put +1/+1 counters on it equal to its power. SIGNED 5/5	Represents cosplay artist Sydney Stafl, Tappy Toe Claws. The card's ability is a reference to the "Tappy" in Tappy Toe Claws' name.
The Spike Cactus	RG03	Legendary Creature — Spike The Spike Cactus enters the battlefield with +1/+1 counters on it equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it. , Remove a +1/+1 counter from The Spike Cactus: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. TARGET 0/0	Represents The Spike Feeders. The cards itself is a Commander-themed Spike that uses the commander tax to grow in size.
The Beleaguered Boxer	RZ16	Legendary Creature — Human Warrior The Beleaguered Boxer can't be your Commander unless your deck is 100 cards and originally built out of no more than 36 booster packs, plus basic lands. When The Beleaguered Boxer enters the battlefield, open a Magic booster pack. Remove up to three cards in your hand or graveyard from your deck permanently. For each card removed this way, add a card from that pack [to] your hand. Those cards are now permanently part of your deck. FIVE 6/6	Represents Brian David-Marshall who began a commander "Boxing League" during the early part of the Covid-19 pandemic along with other prominent members of the community, such as Sheldon Menery. He has since brought the format to events and popularized it online. This card encapsulates the nature of the format, where players start by building a Commander deck from 36 booster packs, and update cards as they progress through the league by opening additional packs.
The Collector	MZ99	Legendary Creature — Human Gamer Whenever you cast a signed spell or play a signed land, copy it. (A signed card is a card signed by its artist, designer, or someone else it's strongly associated with.) Discard a signed card: Do whatever the solved Unknown Event puzzle says! Prize Card for the Unknown events at MagicCon Chicago, February 24-25, 2024. 5/5	Prize card for both events. When the flavor text of each of the content creator cards is combined, its second ability reads: "Discard a signed card: Destroy target creature with a name that has a five or fewer letter length difference from the person who signed the discarded card."
The Dogronmaster	RZ24	Legendary Creature — Dragon Dog Flying Whenever The Dogronmaster or another Dragon or Dog enters the battlefield under your control, create a token that's a copy of the card Armadillo Cloak and attach it to that creature. OR 3/2	Represents former Magic pro player Brian Kibler, known for Dragon decks and his dogs. Armadillo Cloak was a famous card in his first Pro Tour Top 8 deck in, appropriately enough, Chicago, 23 years prior.
The Duke of Midrange	RZ34	Legendary Creature — Lhurgoyf Wizard When The Duke of Midrange enters the battlefield, choose one of Thoughtseize, Lightning Bolt, or Abrupt Decay. Cast a copy of the chosen card. The Duke of Midrange's power is equal to the number of card types among cards in all graveyards and its toughness is equal to that number plus 1. LETTER */*	Represents Magic pro player Reid Duke and his love of playing Jund decks. Notably the card was printed with two errors. Its' first ability should read "Cast a copy of the chosen card without paying its mana cost" and its toughness should match with its characteristic-defining ability as */*+1, per its inspiration, Tarmogoyf.
The Scholar of Seas	RZ11	Legendary Creature — Merfolk Advisor Other Merfolk you control get +1/+1. When The Scholar of Seas enters the battlefield, choose one of the following cards at random and create a token that's a copy: Judge of Currents Merrow Reejerey Lord of Atlantis Merfolk Sovereign Sygg, River Guide Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca A 2/2	First previewed via Tolarian Community College's Shuffle Up & Play series prior to MagicCon Chicago 2024. Designed by Gavin Verhey for The Professor due to his love of Merfolk and desire for a Bant Merfolk commander.
The Sprinkler of Stardust	RZ04	Legendary Creature — Human Warrior Whenever The Sprinkler of Stardust attacks, look at the top six cards of your library. You may put an instant or sorcery card from among them onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. It becomes a 2/2 creature with "Whenever this deals combat damage to an opponent, cast a copy of this card." (The 2/2 creature stays on the battlefield.) Put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in a random order. CREATURE 4/4	Represents Lua Stardust, cohost of Scrybabies. The card is a callback to Winota, Joiner of Forces but for Instant and Sorcery cards.
The Water Maro	RZ01	Legendary Creature — Elemental When you cast The Water Maro, create a token that's a copy of it, except the copy isn't legendary. The Water Maro's power and toughness are each equal to the number of permanents you control that are tokens and/or have the word "Maro" in the name. DESTROY */*	Represents Mark Rosewater (MaRo).
Deep Dish Pizza	UA02	Artifact — Food Suspend 2— (Deep Dish Pizza has no mana cost and must be suspended.) , Sacrifice Deep Dish Pizza: Gain 3 life, draw three cards, and Deep Dish Pizza deals 3 damage to each opponent.	References the style of pizza made famous in Chicago.
Guilded Lotus	UA05	Artifact Pledge (Join a two-colored guild if you haven't already this game.) : Add three mana in any combination of your guild's colors	A Ravnican guild-themed Gilded Lotus.
Interrogation Robot	UA03	Artifact Creature — Construct , Discard a card: Choose a card name that hasn't been chosen among Who, Who, What, When, and Why. Create a copy of the card with the chosen name. You may cast the copy. (You still pay it's costs. Who // What // When // Where // Why is a split card from Unhinged.) 2/2	Yes, the Un-card from Unhinged. The card's name is a joke reference to people asking a lot of questions feeling like an interrogation.
Karlov's Crossbow	CA06	Artifact — Equipment Whenever equipped creature attacks, sacrifice Karlov's Crossbow and destroy target creature an opponent controls. Equip Forecast — , Reveal Karlov's Crossbow from your hand: For the remainder of the game, spells you cast named Karlov's Crossbow cost less to cast. (Activate only during your upkeep and only once each turn.)	A mechanical reference to Chekhov's gun, the writing principle that all elements of a story should have narrative importance or be removed from the story. A famous example used to illustrate this principle is "If a writer features a gun in a story, there must be a reason for it, such as it being fired sometime later in the plot."
The Rebellious Intelligence	RA31	Legendary Artifact Creature — Rebel At the beginning of your upkeep, put a random card from outside the game into your hand. (In Commander sealed, that's everything you didn't play with. In any other commander game, find a way to select a random Magic card.) : Add . This mana can't be spent to pay generic mana costs. FEWER 5/5	Represents Rebell Lily.
Simic Slaw	CA	Artifact — Food Clue Whenever one or more creatures die, put a charge counter on Simic Slaw. , Sacrifice Simic Slaw: Draw X cards and gain X life, where X is the number of charge counters on Simic Slaw.	A reference to LoadingReadyRun's tale of Simic Slaw, which is itself a spoof reference to the 1973 film Soylent Green.

Amsterdam 2024 cards

A total of 28 new cards were designed for this event by Gavin and the team. Three cards were designed at the You Make the Card panel on the Friday before the first event, but were held until MagicCon Vegas to be used and revealed.

References the approximately 1200 historic windmills across the Netherlands that give the country its famous association. It also references the Magic player term for taking a card from a booster draft pack or the top of the library, raising one's arm high, and slamming it down on the table in excitement.
The Kami Knight	RW02	Legendary Creature — Spirit Warrior Other creatures you control gain all bonuses conferred by equipment attached to this creature. Creatures you control can't be goaded. 3/3	References Commander Advisory Group member and writer Kristen Gregory. The card's name is a reference to Kristen's X/Twitter account handle NarukamiKnight.
The Inspector Inspector	RW03	Legendary Creature — Human Detective Other creatures you control enter the battlefield as a copy of Thraben Inspector. (They're 1/2s with "When this creature enters the battlefield, investigate".) , Sacrifice The Inspector Inspector: Draw a card. 1/2	References writer Emma Partlow.
The Miniaturizer	RW04	Legendary Creature — Human Artifficer When The Miniaturizer enters the battlefield, soospect up to one target creature. (It gains first strike and can't block. This is different than suspecting.) , Exile a creature card from your graveyard: Create a token that's a copy of the exiled card, except it's an Equipment artifact token instead of a creature. Its equip cost is equal to its mana cost, and it has "Equipped creature gets +X/+X, where X is this card's power." 5/5	References Magic accessories maker Soos. The card's name and second ability represent the enamel pins Soos creates while the first ability is a pun on Suspect.
The Pleasant Taxer	WWO2	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard As The Pleasant Taxer enters the battlefield, choose casting creature spells, casting noncreature spells, searching libraries, drawing a card beyond the first each turn, or activating abilities other than mana abilities. Doing the chosen action costs players more. 2/2	References content creator Vincent Chandler, Pleasant Kenobi.
The Clever Magician	RU04	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard Rule Zero — Whenever this creature enters the battlefield, and before the game begins if this creature is your commander, you may propose a new rule that is contained to this game of Magic. If all players in the game agree to it, that rule becomes true for this game. If one or more players decline, instead you scry 2. (If this is your commander, scry after keeping your hand.) 2/7	References Commander Advisory Group member Tim Willoughby and Rule Zero. The card allows players to create a house rule. The power and toughness are a reference to Commander players colloquially claiming all decks have a power level of either two (a generally unfocused collection of cards) or seven (a focused deck with a game plan).
The Magic Bandit	RB04	Legendary Creature — Human Rogue When The Magic Bandit deals combat damage to an opponent, exile the top card of that player's library. You may cast that card for as long as it remains exiled, and mana of any type can be spent to cast that spell. Whenever you cast a spell or play a land you don't own, copy it. 3/2	References French content creator Bandit.
The Juzam Master	RB03	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard Creatures you control get +1/+0 and have "At the beginning of your upkeep, this creature deals 1 damage to you." 4/5	References Hall of Fame pro player Martin Jůza. Turns all your creatures into Juzám Djinn as a joke on the spelling of Martin's last name and the spelling of Juzám.
The Zassacre Zirl	RB06	Legendary Creature — Human Assassin When The Zassacre Zirl enters the battlefield, if you cast them, destroy target commander an opponent controls. If its owner has two or more commanders, that card stops being a commander. When another Commander dies, draw a card. 4/4	References ZMainCharacter, who has often cosplayed as Massacre Girl. The card's type line, power and toughness, and name are all references to Massacre Girl. Removing a commander does not change a deck's color identity mid-game.
The Great Juggernaut	RR04	Legendary Artifact Creature — Juggernaut At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice The Great Juggernaut unless you discard a card. Whenever The Great Juggernaut attacks, shuffle your library then exile the top card of your library. You may play that card without paying its mana cost this turn. 5/3	References four-time Player of the Year and 1999 World Champion Kai Budde, whose Pro Tour nickname was "The German Juggernaut". The card's first ability is a reference to Masticore, while its second ability is a reference to Temporal Aperture. Both cards were in Kai's World Championship winning Wildfire deck.
The Disciple of Nissa	RG01	Legendary Creature — Elf Wizard Whenever the Disciple of Nissa attacks, you may pay . When you do, create X tokens that are copies of different Nissa planeswalkers chosen at random. They each enter with an additional loyalty counter. (There are currently eleven. Yes, Nissa, Sage Animist counts. Perhaps look up the list and roll a D20?) 3/2	References cosplay artist and content creator Dana Fischer, who regularly cosplays as Nissa Revane.
The Massive Zatcatl	RG07	Legendary Creature — Elf Cat Wizard Whenever you cast a creature spell, draw a card. Tap three untapped creatures you control: Add . 6/6	References Slovak pro player Matej Zatlkaj and his nickname, "Big Z". The card's first ability is a reference to Glimpse of Nature, while its second ability is a reference to Heritage Druid. (Gunk is a colorless sorcery card with no mana cost and cycling .) Whenever an opponent loses life, they shuffle that many Gunk cards into their library. A play on Dark Ritual and the way Mark Rosewater has helped define and shape the color pie over twenty eight years, such as the shift of fast mana going from black to red. It's also a joke reference to the Council of Marks, an unofficial grouping of the many people working at Wizards of the Coast named Mark. Designed by Alexander Smith.
Seer of the Bright Side	RB02	Creature — Human Assassin This creature enters with two cage counters on it. This creature can't attack or block as long as it has a cage counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a cage counter from this creature. When the last cage counter is removed this way, destroy target creature an opponent controls. 4/4	Designed by Matt Tabak. The card is a reference to the 2003 song Mr. Brightside by The Killers. The card's use of cage counters is a direct reference to the song's first lyric "Comin' out of my cage and I've been doin' just fine".
At Least It's a Dry Heat	RR04	Instant At Least It's a Dry Heat deals 1,000,000 damage to target creature. This damage can't be prevented, redirected, cause damage to be dealt to a player (sorry, Stuffy Doll), or be compared to damage dealt by sources on the east coast.	Designed by Matt Tabak. Las Vegas's desert climate makes it a dry heat.
Fear of Going 0-2 Drop	CR02	Enchantment Creature — Nightmare Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature deals 1 damage to each opponent. As long as you have exactly one loss in the event you're playing, this creature gets +2/+0. (For example, if your record is 0-1, this creature gets +2/+0.) 0/2	Represents a common fear of tournament players; joining a tournament only to immediately lose. The card's second ability reflects the drive of players to avoid this fate.
The Powerful Dragon	RR06	Legendary Creature — Dragon Flying Mentor (Whenever this creature attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on target attacking creature with lesser power.) Whenever one or more +1/+1 counters are put on a creature you control, exile the top card of your library. The Cobra Kai karate dojo motto is "Strike first, strike hard, no mercy". Bertrand has joined Game Knights games multiple times, once live, the first time using a Koma, Cosmos Serpent, where the color and upkeep ability come from.

If you do, ask a person outside the game if the spell's name sounds like a non-Magic themed movie title. When a person answers yes, choose one— Put two +1/+1 counters on target creature. First Stage of Magic Design	RZ15	Instant You gain 3 life. Draw three cards. Add . This spell deals 3 damage to any target. Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn.	Part of the Magic Design cycle. A combination of one of the first cycles in Magic, the Boons (Healing Salve; Ancestral Recall; Dark Ritual; Lightning Bolt; and Giant Growth). The card represents the division of Magic design into the five segements of the color pie and Mark's first stage of design period (Limited Edition Alpha through Alliances).
The Judge of Height	RZ05	Legendary Creature — Giant Wizard Trample The Judge of Height gets +1/+0 for each creature on the battlefield that it's taller than. (A creature's height is equal to its toughness plus its mana value.) 0/6	References Matt Tabak.
The Majestic Duo	RZ04	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard When The Majestic Duo enters, if you don't control another permanent named The Majestic Duo, create a token that's a copy of it, except it's not legendary, it has "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card and earnestly tell them good luck," and it loses all other abilities. Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, you and that player may each put a permanent card from your hand onto the battlefield. Refers to the significant influx of new Magic printings during this period, with Commander side products on each set, Standard being now 12-18 sets, and mechanically unique Secret Lairs all contributing to a rapid increase of new cards every year. This card covers Mark's seventh stage of design period (Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty through to the present day—Duskmourn: House of Horror at the time of the MagicCon).
The Unknown Wizard	MZ01	Legendary Creature — Human Wizard Eminence—As long as The Unknown Wizard is in the command zone or on the battlefield, other playtest cards you cast cost less to cast. Whenever The Unknown Wizard enters or attacks, look at the top ten cards of your library. You may put a legendary playtest card from among them onto the battlefield. The Weekly Princess	RZ03	Legendary Creature — Human Noble If it's neither day nor night, it becomes day as The Weekly Princess enters. (It becomes night next turn if a player casts no spells on their turn, and day if a player casts 2+ spells on their turn.) Whenever night becomes day, put a +1/+1 counter on The Weekly Princess. Then if she has seven or more +1/+1 counters on her, she deals damage equal to her power to each opponent. When The Weekly Princess leaves the battlefield, it stops being day or night. Zimone's Homework	RZ12	Enchantment At the beginning of your end step, if your life total is on the lazy caterer's sequence, create a Food token. If it's a Fibonacci number, create a 0/0 green and blue Fractal creature token, then put a +1/+1 counter on each Fractal you control. If it's a square number, put three +1/+1 counters on each creature you control whose power and toughness are equal. (You'll want to look these up.)	Designed by Matt Tabak. The Zonian Brawler	RZ05	Legendary Creature — Zonian Gamer If The Zonian Brawler is your commander, your minimum deck size is 60 and your starting life total is 30. (That's right, you're playing Brawl!) Whenever a fighting or biting creature you control deals lethal damage to a creature, create a Food token and draw a card. (Biting is when a creature deals damage equal to its power to another creature.) 4/4	References YouTuber Amy the Amazonian. One of the more prolific Brawl content creators.
Sharp Eraser	RA06	Artifact , : Reveal cards from the top card of your library until you reveal a nonland card. You may erase any number of words on the card, including flavor text, as long as the card still makes sense. Then cast the revised card without paying its mana cost. Put all other cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in a random order.	Allows players to create "Sharpie cube" cards as a nod to the meme format that was popular three months before the event.

If Oozeavite would be dealt damage, instead create a 0/0 green Ooze creature token and move a counter from Oozeavite onto it. Then if Oozeavite has no counters on it, sacrifice it. , : Move any number of counters from other creatures you control onto Oozeavite. When Trash Panda dies, put it into target opponent's graveyard. Opponent dredge 4 (If an opponent would draw a card, instead you may have them mill exactly four cards and put this card into their hand from their graveyard.) 5/5	Affectionate nickname for Raccoons. The card plays around with the milling cards and the Dredge mechanic about Raccoons frequently targeting garbage bins, and trash, for food.

Annihilator X, where X is the total number of poison counters your opponents have. When you cast That Which Was Compleated, you may put a card an opponent owns in exile into their graveyard. If you do, they get two poison counters. 10/10	Based on the popular idea of a compleated Eldrazi. The card's name is a nod to That Which Was Taken (Betrayers of Kamigawa). Introduced the colorless Phyrexian mana symbol.

Whenever you sacrifice a Hot Dog, create a Treasure token. Food Crew 2 (Tap two Foods you control: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.) "Hold the ketchup!" 3/3	The hexproof from red is a reference to the general disdain the people of Chicago have for putting ketchup on hotdogs.
