Curse counters are a type of counter introduced on a Test card created at the 2025 Chicago Unknown Event.

Description

Curse counters first appeared on the Blue Screen of Death test card as part of an Unknown Event. It was created by players at the MagicCon as part of the "You Make the Card" event at 2025 Chicago MagicCon and was later re-issued at the subsequent 2025 Las Vegas MagicCon. It is a legendary instant artifact enchantment that enters with 108 of the counters with them being able to be removed for 1 colorless mana each. It then will cause players to lose life if they spend more seconds with priorty then the number of counters on the card setting a time limit for each turn. This is a reference to the infamous critical error screen displayed by Microsoft Windows operating systems to indicate a system crash.[1]
