Slime counters are a type of counter introduced in Innistrad. They have thus far been associated with the plane of Innistrad sets and have had various effects.

Description

Slime counters first appeared on Gutter Grime in Innistrad. It is an enchantment that gets a Slime counter placed on it whenever a nontoken creature the player controls dies, alongside creating an Ooze creature token with a power and toughness equal to the number of counters on it.

The counters appeared once again on Sludge Monster in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt. It is a creature that adds one of the counters to another creature when it enters the battlefield and when it attacks. The counters make them lose all abilities and have base power and toughness 2/2 if they are not a Horror. In its sister set Innistrad: Crimson Vow they appeared on Toxrill, the Corrosive, a Slug Horror that puts a Slime counter on all opposing creatures each end step. It acts as a -1/-1 counter on the creatures when they are not under the player's control and then whenever opposing creatures die with a Slime counter on them, Toxrill's controller creates a 1/1 black Slug creature token.
