Blight counters are a type of counter introduced in Bloomburrow.^[1]

Description

At is introduction, Blight counters represented the expanding of trail of death left by the Rottenmouth Viper, a Calamity Beast from Bloomburrow. Whenever the Viper enters or attacks, one of the counters is added to it and then for each counter on it, the controller's opponents must lose 4 life unless they sacrifice a nonland permanent or discard a card.

Final Fantasy added Ultima, Origin of Oblivion which uses these counters similar to Flood counters, but transforming lands into Wastes instead.

Trivia

In Magic Online, the counter is colored orange as its considered a negative effect. It shares its icon with Burden, Pain, and Scream counters.^[2]
