Bloodline counters are a type of counter that tracks upkeep and the trigger for the Transform mechanic of Double-faced cards.

Description

Bloodline counters were introduced in Innistrad: Crimson Vow on the artifact known as Edgar Markov's Coffin. A counter is placed on the artifact after the player’s upkeep along with creating a vampire token. Once three or more of the counters are on the coffin, it transforms as a Double-faced card into Edgar, Charmed Groom. This represents Edgar Markov’s vampire bloodline and his revival from the coffin after a period of sleep.
