oracle:"Carrion counter"

Carrion counters are a type of counter introduced in Legends and later reprinted in Fourth Edition, Renaissance, and most recently Masters Edition IV. Its name alludes to the creature powering up from eating a dead creature as they act as a resource created from creature deaths and can be converted to temporary +1/+1 counters.

Description

Carrion counters first appeared on Osai Vultures in Legends as an unnamed counter on the printed card but was later errated to be typed as Carrion counters. A Carrion counter is created on the creature at the end of a player's turn if another creature was put into the graveyard that turn. Two carrion counters can then be converted into a +1/+1 counter that lasts for a single turn.

Trivia

In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and it shares an icon with Blood, Corpse, Eyeball, Infection, and Plague counters.[1]
