Hunger counters are a type of counter introduced in The Dark. They act as an upkeep counter for an enchantment related to the skipping of drawing cards.

Description

Hunger counters first appeared on Fasting in The Dark as unnamed counters, which were later renamed Hunger counters. The counters act as an upkeep tracker on the enchantment, causing it to be destroyed once 5 counters are on it. This represents the end of fasting due to built-up hunger. The Hunger is the skipping of drawing cards as the enchantments get destroyed if any card is drawn. In exchange, it gives life to the player each turn.
