Spite counters are a type of counter introduced in Commander 2016. It is a multiplayer format counter used to gain an advantage from a player's defeat.

Description

Spite counters first appeared on Curse of Vengeance in Commander 2016. It was an curse aura enchantment that enchanted the player and which would gain a Spite counter whenever that player cast a spell. Whenever the enchanted player loses the game, the player who cast the curse gains life and a card draws equal to the number of Spite counters.

Trivia

• In Magic Online, Spite counters are colored green as its considered a positive effect and share their icon with Blaze, Flame, Fury, Fuse, Shred and Strife counters.
