Story counters are a type of counter introduced in the Phyrexia: All Will Be One commander decks.

Description

Story counters first appeared on the Staff of the Storyteller in the Phyrexia: All Will Be One commander decks. It is an artifact that gains a story counter anytime one or more creature Tokens are created. The artifact also creates a Spirit token when it first enters the battlefield so it starts with one counter on it. It then has an activated ability to pay and remove a story counter to draw a card.

Trivia

In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as it's considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Filibuster, Landmark, Level, Page, Plot, Quest, and Study counters.^[1]
