Shoe counters are a type of acorn counter first introduced in Unhinged.

Description

Shoe counters first appeared on Shoe Tree in Unhinged. Shoe Tree is a treefolk that grows shoes and enters the battlefield with up to two shoe counters on it. Rather than normal counters, these shoe counters must be represented by the player's actual shoes. Shoe Tree then gets +1/+1 for each shoe counter on it. If proliferate is used on the counters, the player has to provide the shoes, or it will not be added.[1][2] The shoes on the card are considered part of the card as they are counters for abilities that need to touch the card.[3]
