Matrix counters are a type of counter introduced in Legends. They allow for a player to regenerate a creature.

Description

Matrix counters first appeared on Life Matrix in Legends as an unnamed counter type which was later given errata to be Matrix counters. It was an artifact which had an activated ability to add Matrix counters to creatures. The counter could then be removed during upkeep to regenerate the creature.

Trivia

In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Fungus, Growth, Petal, Polyp, Pupa, Rust, Spore and Vitality counters.^[1]
