Palliation counters are a type of counter introduced in Dissension, used only on the card Palliation Accord.
Description
Palliation counters first appeared on Palliation Accord in Dissension where they were originally known as shield counters before being renamed to "palliation counters" when shield counters were added as a mechanic in Streets of New Capenna.[1][2]
Palliation Accord is an enchantment that gets a palliation counter placed on it whenever an opponent's permanent becomes tapped. The player may then remove one of the palliation counters to prevent 1 damage from being dealt to the player during the turn it was removed.
Trivia
- Palliation is the alleviation of a disease's symptoms without a cure, also referred to as temporary relief.
- In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Muster and Phylactery counters.[3]
