Vow counters are a type of counter introduced in Commander 2021. They have no inherent rules meaning.

Description

Vow counters first appeared on the Promise of Loyalty in Commander 2021. It is a sorcery that lets each player place a vow counter on a creature they control while sacrificing all their others. Creatures with the counter cannot attack the player or planeswalkers they control for as long as they have the vow counter on them. This represents the creatures taking a vow of friendship.

Trivia

In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Devotion, Divinity, Dream, Elixir, Fate, Healing, Hunger, Intervention, Omen, Unity, Valor and Wish counters.^[1]
