Set details
“ | Return to Your Old Haunts | ” |
Innistrad Remastered contains cards from the Innistrad block, the Shadows over Innistrad block, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow.[2] The set also contains Commander product cards that are set on Innistrad, and reprints from non-Innistrad sets with reimagined art and flavor. It is a fully draftable set. Innistrad Remastered cards are legal where already available in other formats.
This set features 297 regular cards (10 basic lands), and includes randomly inserted premium versions of all cards. The regular cards include 10 retro frame basic lands. Alternate card frames have a different number than the original version.[6] Borderless cards with new art #298-322. Werewolves with the Midnight Hunt Showcase "Equinox" treatment are #323-325, while Vampires with the Crimson Vow Showcase "Fang" treatment are #326-328. One-sided Retro frame cards are #329-447, followed by DFC's with the retro frame (#448-474), and the retro frame exclusives (#475-480). Showcase Movie Poster cards are #481-491. The Release card is #492.
History
Wizards of the Coast began the initial development of Innistrad Remastered in 2020 with a plan to cover the first two Innistrad blocks (Innistrad block and Shadows over Innistrad block).[7] Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow were both in early vision design and were not eligible for inclusion. Melissa DeTora was heavily involved in the initial set design work. At some point during development, Wizards decided to pause work on Innistrad Remastered and shelved the set in favor of other products. After an unknown number of years, the set was put back into development with JC Tao taking on the set lead role. Due to the pause, Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow had both been released and were now included in the remaster.
Marketing

Innistrad Remastered is a special limited-run set. It is sold in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. Every Play Booster features a retro frame card, with the possibility of a double-faced retro frame card. Each Play Booster also contains a traditional foil card, and may contain an art card. Collector Boosters may contain Showcase Movie Poster cards and serialized Edgar Markov cards.[6] Serialized Edgar Markov cards are localized in English only and are available in Collector Boosters of any language. Non-serialized Edgar Markov cards found in Innistrad Remastered are mechanically identical to their serialized variants. A serialized Edgar Markov card can be found in <1% of boosters.[8] Foil retro frame cards are also only available in Collector Boosters.
Play Boosters may contain cards INR #1–480 and Collector Boosters may contain cards INR #1–491.
Headliner
Innistrad Remastered is the first set to feature a Headliner. For the Headliner, the design team picks one card for a specific set and "cranks all the exciting knobs for awesome collectability, making a card feel super special by producing dedicated treatments". For Innistrad Remastered the Headliner is Edgar Markov, which also shows up in a serialized version (#1-500).[9][8]
Retro frame exclusives
There are five cards in the set that are exclusively available in retro frames. These can be found in Collector Boosters.[7]
- 475 Liliana of the Veil
- 477 Avacyn, Angel of Hope
- 478 Snapcaster Mage
- 479 Balefire Dragon
- 480 Craterhoof Behemoth
MTG Arena
Innistrad Remastered is not released on MTG Arena. Note that in 2023 a digital-only Shadows over Innistrad Remastered set already had been released on MTG Arena, which is a different card set.

Delver evolution | Delver of Secrets // Insectile Aberration | Aberrant Researcher // Perfected Form | Docent of Perfection // Final Iteration |
Each of these double-faced cards depicts the further descent into madness of a single unknown researcher. The type line, power, and toughness of each card's front face are identical to that of the previous card's back face and the card name uses part of the previous cards back face name. Notable cards
Misprints
A small number of English-language Innistrad Remastered Play Boosters contain a mismatched double-faced card.[6] The front face is Ecstatic Awakener while the back face is Ravager of the Fells, instead of Awoken Demon.[13] There is also a Delver of Secrets which has Ormendahl, Profane Prince on the backside. These cards may be played as though mechanically identical to their front face. You cannot play the mismatched face of a mismatched double-faced card, and mismatched DFCs do not represent mechanically unique printings or unique Booster Fun treatments.
