Artifacts known as avengers were artificial creatures created by Urza during the time of the Brothers' War. The very first model was based on a schematic Urza drew when he wanted to gain access to the Jalum Tome from the dowry of Kayla bin-Kroog. His avenger lifted the statue in the square, thus winning the Warlord of Kroog's contest and earning Urza Kayla's hand by marriage. [1]
This one avenger became part of Kroog's pride in their Chief Artificer, but after a few years, it was destroyed during the chaos during the Peace Summit at Korlinda. Urza then designed upgraded versions of the Avengers, with better shapeshifting abilities. Following Yotia's Declaration of War, Urza honed his designs even more, creating sword-type avengers that worked extremely well in tune with a pilot, although they were still outmatched by the might of a dragon engine, and were unable to stop the Fall of Kroog.[1]
