Smith is a obsolete creature class. Smiths are craftspeople who fashion useful items (for example, tools, jewelery, Armor and weapons) out of various metals.
History
The two card with the subtype Smith were Hyperion Blacksmith and Repentant Blacksmith. These were changed to Artificer in the Grand Creature Type Update. Since then there have been numerous Smith related cards which are usually typed as Artificers.

Known Types
Most types of Smiths are Artificers though there are a few exceptions.
- Blacksmith: a metalsmith who creates objects primarily from wrought iron or steel, but sometimes from other metals. Example: Argivian Blacksmith
- Embersmith: Vulshok artificer smiths - “The Vulshok see the artificer as a catalyst, bringing the spark of creation that ignites change.”
- Lightsmith: a Cleric who imbues light into objects. Example: Dwarven Lightsmith
- Silversmith: a metalsmith who specializes in using Silver. Example: Gavony Silversmith
- There is also a Spellshaper called Silversmith
- Weaponsmith: a smith that specializes in weapons. Example: Dwarven Weaponsmith
