Archer is a creature class. The first card to feature the type was Femeref Archers from Mirage.
Archers are combatants who specialize in fighting with bow and arrows. In-game, archers often have the reach ability or abilities that allow them to deal damage directly to creatures, often those with flying. Archers are centered in white and green.
For much of the game's history, "archer" was not a supported creature type, and preexisting archers (or cards depicting archers) were labelled as soldiers. With Mirrodin and the Grand Creature Type Update the archer type was reinstated. Some archers that had been changed to soldiers now bear both creature types.
