Description
Most slugs move by slowly gliding about. They appear in green, black and red. The first creature to bear the type was Giant Slug from Legends. Other examples include Spitting Slug from The Dark and Molder Slug from Mirrodin.
Storyline
Dominaria
Evolving from giant slugs before Dominaria's Ice Age, Thermopods developed a furnace-like organ in their bellies.[1] This organ heated the thermopods' blood as it was pumped from their heart. In time, the organ spread out and formed a mesh of heated membranes just beneath the flesh of the thermopods’ belly. This adaptation heats a thermopod’s underside, nullifying potential injury from prolonged contact with the icy ground. It also improves its ability to move over the ice. Slicking the ice with its heated underside, it skates at great speed to overtake its prey.
