oracle:"Sleep counter"

Sleep counters are a type of counter introduced in Legends. They act as a freeze effect on creatures.

Description

Sleep counters first appeared on Venarian Gold in Legends as an unnamed type counter which were given errata to be Sleep counters. It is an Aura Enchantment that is placed on a creature that taps it and adds Sleep counters to it based on the additional mana cost paid for casting the enchantment. For as long as the sleep counter is on the creature it does not untap. One of the counters is removed on the controller's upkeep step. This represents the creature being put to sleep until the counters are removed at which point it wakes.
