oracle:"Pause counter"

Pause counters are a type of counter introduced in Unfinity. They are an acorn effect that lets the player pause an effect that normally would only last for the turn and extend it longer.

Description

Pause counters first appeared on the acorn Grand Marshal Macie in Unfinity. The play can choose to not untap the creature in exchange for it getting a Pause counter and the player taking 1 life per counter. All the counters are removed if it is ever untapped. It has an activated ability that lets the player choose an “until end of turn” or “this turn” effect which will remain active until the creature is untapped. This act as if the effect is being Paused by the counters with an increasing cost to the player taking more life each turn.
