Rangeling is a characteristic-defining keyword ability. It only appears on land cards and grants those cards all land types.

History

Rangeling debuted in Unfinity. It plays on "mountain range" and "Changeling", a similar multi-type ability.

While possible with some rules massaging as an Eternal card, it was left as Acorn due to power level issues[1]. Planar Nexus from Modern Horizons 3 demonstrated that if the basic land types were removed, it would be safe enough for Eternal.

Rulings

  • Lands with rangeling have all five basic land types and can use all five intrinsic abilities to tap for {W}, {U}, {B}, {R} or {G}.[2]
  • Lands with rangeling don't tap for {C} because no land type has the intrinsic ability to tap for {C}.
