Alliterative is an acorn term used introduced in Unfinity. It only appears on the card Treacherous Trapezist.

Description

According to the Magic rules, card name is alliterative when two or more capitalized words in their name begin with the same letter. This definition doesn’t match the English definition, but it is easier to track and identify.[1][2]

Alliterative is supported in other languages. As long as words with capital letters in the card title start with the same letter, it will work.[3] If there is no capitalization, just use starting letters.[4]

Rulings

  • In Un- games, the name of a card is the actual printed card name, not the card's Oracle text or its name in a language other than the one used on the card.[5]
    • In Un- games, a token's name will be in the same language as the the source that created the token.
  • An alliterative spell or creature can have other words in its name, capitalized or not, as long as it has two or more capitalized words that begin with the same letter.
  • The two two or more capitalized words don't need to be adjacent to one another for the card to count as Alliterative.
  • Alliteration usually refers to the repetition of sounds at the beginnings of words but Magic Alliterative does not follow this rule. Questionable Cuisine is not alliterative while Celestial Crusader is.
