Cremate is an unofficial term used by Magic R&D to describe a combat mechanic from Kaldheim that uses creature cards in the graveyard as a resource.[1] It is named after the eponymous Cremate (Invasion).
Description
The idea behind the Vision Design-created mechanic in Kaldheim was that it would encourage the player to be aggressive because having creatures die would just strengthen them later in the game. Set Design decided to keep it in the set but didn't feel the need for it to have a name, so they de-keyworded it. They also lowered the overall number in the set.[1]

The premise has been used many times in the past, most often invoking the temporary or long-term reanimation of corpses into a generic undead figure. The earliest cards to feature the mechanic were cards in The Dark, like Eater of the Dead and Grave Robbers.
Innistrad used it for the blue zombie Skaabs as an additional cost.
