Korozda, also known as the Maze of Decay, surrounds the Golgari guildhall Svogthos in the Undercity of Ravnica.[1]
Description
Korozda is an immense, circular maze of overgrown, fungus-encrusted ruins.[2] Korozda is patrolled by an array of swarming vermin, giant insects, kraul, zombies, and gleancrawlers.[3] At its center is a great amphitheater, where the most important issues are brought to the Golgari's attention.
Penvar, the Hanging Keep is a castle fixed upside down on the ceiling above the entrance of Korozda.[4]
History
Although it far predates its use as a guildhall, Korozda rose to larger prominence after the deaths of Svogthir and Savra vod Savo. Abandoning the former guild hall of Svogthos to ruin and decay, the Golgari withdrew into Korozda itself, and the maze became the lair of the new guildmaster Jarad vod Savo. Korozda was where he met with the Cilia, his irregular court of attendants. While Jarad and his Devkarin had preferred the psychotropic delights of Korozda's rot gardens, Vraska moved the court back into Svogthos after the death of Jarad and had her servants build a throne out of her petrified opponents.[5]
During the War of the Spark, Ral Zarek, Kaya Cassir, Teyo Verada, and Araithia Shokta crossed through Korozda on the way to Svogthos. They were allowed to pass through unharmed and were approached by Storrev, who received them and led them inside the cathedral, seeking aid from the Golgari against the invading Dreadhorde.[6]
During the New Phyrexian Invasion, as part of Vraska's compleation of the Golgari, Realmbreaker upended Korozda from above, cracking Svogthos.[7][8]
