In Praise of the Worldsoul, part 2 |
Cecilee was a blonde elven druid who tried to make a Selesnyan enclave in the Rubblebelt of Ravnica. She had a connection with the Worldsoul of Ravnica, and followed its voice through her work, but during an attack by Rakdos cultists, Cecilee was killed by Massacre Girl.[1]
History
Following the voice of the Worldsoul, Cecilee moved from Selesnyan territory to the Rubblebelt. There, she built an outpost of the Conclave called a vernadi and dreamed of filling the Rubblebelt with new plant growth. With her initial success bringing green back into the devastation around her, she started to adopt a more Gruul-like outlook on nature, now preferring the wild untamed green plants over the manicured lawns of the Conclave. She set up her vernadi to be a healing center, administered to wounded Gruul by her Selsnyan healers. She had peace for a while and a small bond between the two guilds started to form.
However, one day Cecilee's scouts found an abandoned Gruul boy, tattooed with clan symbols across his back. Cecilee adopted the infant to raise as her own and named him Zi, after her brother Ruzi. When Gruul warriors from Nikya's clan demanded Cecilee return the baby to them, Cecilee refused. Thus the Gruul abandoned their alliance with her, and she was left alone with her few warriors in the middle of the Rubblebelt.
Then, one morning, Cecilee's vernadi was attacked by the Rakdos. An ogre smashed its way through the enclave's gate, and the thrill-kill assassin-for-hire Massacre Girl uprooted Cecilee's budding Selesnyan guild tree. Her connection to the Worldsoul became muddled, and Cecilee lost all hope for the future. The Rakdos killed all of Cecilee's followers, sparing her for last. As she cut the elf girl's throat, Massacre Girl wondered why she had not fought back. What Massacre Girl did not know was that the Rakdos had unwittingly left a single survivor of the attack alive - Cecilee's adopted son Zi, who had been hidden under a table behind some boxes. The infant was rescued by Cecilee's brother Ruzi later the same day.
