Zivan was once a renowned Arbiter and legislator within the Azorius Senate, known for his exceptional legal skills and the ability to debate for hours on end.

History

Zivan once spoke for sixteen hours straight to filibuster a request for refugee assistance. However, his life took a turn when he fell from grace, indulging in the pleasure houses offered by the Cult of Rakdos. He signed the mass arrest of Golgari ordered by Isperia, who was then a high-ranking judge. This arrest led to many deaths, including those of prisoners who were killed while in custody. This raid left a lasting mark of injustice and violence, setting off a chain of retribution.

Years later, a series of gruesome murders targeting members of the Azorius guild began. Each victim was killed in a manner reflecting their life's deeds. Zivan's fate was particularly gruesome; he was found dead, bled out from the words of Azorius statues magically carved all over his body, symbolizing the power of the words he wielded in life.

The investigation into these murders revealed a connection to the past mass arrests and the injustices committed during them. Arbiter Relov, who had signed the mass arrest order without understanding its full implications, became the next target. His old friend Javy, now allied with a gorgon named Vraska, sought to deliver a reckoning to those responsible for the atrocities. It was likely Javy on the orders of Vraska who was responsible for Zivan's death.[1]
