Yarus is a centaur druid from Ravnica, and considered a leader among the Gruul Clans.[1][2]
History
A member of the Zhur-Taa Clan and a druid of the Old Ways, Yarus witnessed the awakening of Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, a moment that filled him with awe and has stayed with him.[3] Since then, he's been attempting to summon the rest of the ancient Gruul gods into existence. Most of his attempts have failed, but after months of trial and error, he finally succeeded in summoning one other member of the Utmungr: Anzrag, the Quake-Mole. However, when the god began rampaging through the Ninth District, the Ravnican Agency of Magicological Investigations was dispatched to deal with him, and their new employee Kellan contained him in an evidence capsule. Furiously opposed to this, Yarus tried to fight his way into a party at Teysa Karlov's manor thrown in honor of the act but was escorted out. Yarus later heard that Anzrag was released inside of the Agency's headquarters to wreak havoc and contained once again.
Later, Yarus was one of the guild figures summoned by Alquist Proft to a meeting at Vitu-Ghazi, where he was to explain the ongoing string of murders that had been happening across the city. When Oba, the central dryad of Trostani, attacked the guild leaders, Yarus fought back instead of running away, angry with Trostani for exploiting Anzrag by making him rampage in the Agency headquarters.[4] While charging the dryad with a rafter, he fatally impaled Tolsimir Wolfblood instead. He was captured by the dryad, but was freed after Kaya and Etrata defeated her.[5]
