Quest is an unreleased enchantment type designed for or Zendikar and Throne of Eldraine.[1][2] It is a markedly different take on the Quest enchantments that were part of Zendikar's final design.[3] A Quest finally saw print on the Mystery Booster 2 test card Map to Lorthos's Temple.

Description

Quests are enchantments that give you three tasks. You mark them as you finish each one. Once all of them are completed, you can sacrifice the card for a big effect.[4]

As originally designed, the completed tasks were marked with a counter. On the test card, the objectives are checked off by pencil or pen. This also makes it a Legacy card.

Enchantment — Quest
Whenever you complete one of the following objectives, check it off. If all three are checked off, sacrifice the Map to Lorthos’s Temple. If you do, create a Lorthos, the Tidemaker token.
☐ Diving Gear - An artifact enters the battlefield under your control.
☐ Merfolk - A Merfolk enters the battlefield under your control.
☐ Ritual - You cast an instant or sorcery spell.

Rulings

  • If you check off an objective for Map to Lorthos's Temple, that objective remains checked off until Map to Lorthos's Temple leaves the battlefield or the game ends.[5]
  • Map to Lorthos's Temple's ability creates a token that's a copy of the card Lorthos, the Tidemaker in the Oracle card reference. The official text for Lorthos, the Tidemaker, can be found using the Gatherer card database at Gatherer.Wizards.com.
