Aurelia is the current guildmaster of the Boros Legion on Ravnica.[1][2]
Description
Aurelia is tall but gives an impression of delicate grace that belies her size. Unlike her predecessors, she has only two white-feathered wings. They spread nearly ten feet across. Aurelia's features are striking, androgynous, and beautiful, and her bright crimson hair flows down over her shoulder like a river of blood dripping across her well-worn armor.[3] Her voice is surprisingly high and musical.
Unlike the former guild leader Razia, the Parun of the Boros, Aurelia keeps a close relationship with her guildmembers.[4] During the years of her leadership, she has shown a strong appreciation for the ordinary citizens who are often caught in the middle of interguild violence.[5] True justice, Aurelia argues, isn't merely enforcing the letter of existing laws (let the Azorius fret over that), but establishing equitable and compassionate relationships among all of Ravnica's people. That means protecting the weak from the depredations of the strong, sheltering the innocents who are threatened by war, and ensuring that enforcement of the law doesn't become oppressive. Aurelia actively supports efforts to establish a lasting peace among the guilds in the absence of the Guildpact. Aurelia prefers to lead the Boros Legion from the front. She brings swift and unrelenting punishment to the wicked; her temper is legendary.
History
Replacing Feather
Feather was the last angel after the genocide perpetrated by Szadek and was selected, mainly by default, to lead the Boros after the collapse of the first Guildpact. Part of her efforts included repopulating the Firemane with new angels, one of which was Aurelia. However, Feather's baggage and past were seen unfavorably by her strong-willed progeny, and so Aurelia ascended to the leadership of the Boros not long before 10,074 ZC.
Meeting Gideon
When Gideon Jura met with her, she asked him to cleanse the Ninth District of Ravnica, inviting him to join the Legion. Gideon was looking for help against the Eldrazi and thought Aurelia could help him save thousands of lives.[6] After the cleansing of the Ninth District, Aurelia once again offered Gideon to join the Legion. After his refusal, she told him he was always welcome at Sunhome.[7]
Guild Summit
Aurelia attended the guild summit on behalf of the Legion. She witnessed its dissolution after the murder of Isperia.[8] Afterwards she was part of Ral Zarek's alliance in an attempt to prevent inter-guild conflict and to get ready for the upcoming war.
War of the Spark
During the War of the Spark, Aurelia was one of the generals of the forces fighting Bolas's Dreadhorde, closely working together with Gideon.[9] She served as the representative for the Boros Legion at the resurrection of Niv-Mizzet as the new Living Guildpact.[10]
She survived the War and displayed much sorrow over Gideon's death.[11]
Phyrexian Invasion and its aftermath
Aurelia fought in defense of Ravnica during New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse. Never one to lead from behind, Aurelia met the Phyrexian invasion head-on.[12][13]
Aurelia feels extreme guilt for much of the loss of life during the Phyrexian Invasion and blames herself for not being able to save more people. [14]As the Legion's guildmaster, however, she believes she doesn't have the luxury to indulge in self-recrimination — instead burying her guilt, presenting a stern, unyielding face to the rest of the world as she does her best to rebuild her guild.
Crime wave
A year and some months following the Invasion, she was present at Karlov Manor when Zegana was assassinated.[15] She cooperated with the subsequent investigation until an attempt was made on her own life by Massacre Girl.[16] She was prepared to declare the Cult of Rakdos responsible immediately, but Kaya Cassir, Kellan, and Agrus Kos talked her into allowing them twenty-four hours to solve the case. She was later invited to Vitu-Ghazi by Alquist Proft to learn the truth of the murders, where the detective revealed that Oba, the central dryad of Trostani, had organized them in retribution for those she considered traitors to the plane during the Invasion.[17] When Oba attacked the guild leaders, Aurelia was captured, but was freed after Kaya and Etrata defeated Oba.[18] She later arrested Krenko, hoping to find a way to charge him for his crimes during the Invasion.

When Tezzeret impersonated Niv-Mizzet and outlawed planeswalkers from Ravnica, Aurelia tried to arrest Ral Zarek, Kaya, and Vraska as they returned from the Battle of Amonkhet. Vraska took it personally, and, despite Kaya pleading otherwise, challenged Aurelia to death and grabbed her face as her eyes lit up golden.[19] The assassination was confirmed successful in a later issue when an angel spoke to Niv-Mizzet regarding the crime.[20]
