Izoni is an elven champion of the Golgari Swarm on Ravnica.
History
Izoni became Matka of the Devkarin after the suspicious death of her predecessor, Zdenia.[1] lzoni is known for her ability to control insects and spiders, and she is never encountered without the company of one or more swarms of insects crawling over and around her. When she walks, she appears to glide over the ground.
During the War of the Spark, Izoni was present in the Golgari meeting with Kaya's group as one of the members who could take over Golgari's leadership;[2] when Vraska showed up and reclaimed her leadership, Izoni was the most begrudging to accept her authority.[3]
Feeling threatened by Izoni's lust for power, Vraska tricked the Devkarin huntmaster Myczil Savod Zunich and the shaman Cevraya into thinking that Izoni had tried to kill Myczil with poisonous spiders.[4] Both Myzcil and Cevraya consequently accepted the protection of Vraska.
Murders at Karlov Manor
After New Phyrexia's invasion of Ravnica resulted in the deaths of many Golgari and the shifting of the undercity, Izoni was well aware that her guild was in an especially precarious position. As a result, she didn't attend Teysa Karlov's party the next year and was not present for the murder of Zegana. She used her insects to monitor the investigation as it progressed, and was eventually paid a visit by the detective Alquist Proft, who wanted her to analyze a chemical he believed was related to the case. She concluded that it was derived from a living thing, but not something that was native to Ravnica. Proft realized that their conversation was being spied on, and ran after the suspect, but was knocked out by an unseen force. After he returned to consciousness, he thanked Izoni for her help and left.[5]

Trivia
- Izoni is immune to all types of poisons and diseases.[6] Seanan McGuire has speculated that this could be the reason why she survived the Phyrexian Invasion when most Golgari did not, as she could be immune to phyresis, akin to Melira.[7]
