Kelen Jek is an Izzet mechanoaugmentation specialist, who experimented on the snapjaw Kuba.

History

Kelen Jek wrote trial proposal #1547 on the background of implementing biomechanical augmentation systems in a manner that allowed for the mental faculties of the implanted organism to handle the sudden integration of the new devices. Kelen wondered if a neuroamplification serum could be applied to a subject in concert with an implanted mechanical augmentation to give the subject the ability to integrate the augmentation into its instinctive biological processes. The method he used was to implant a simple mizzium mechanical augmentation framework into a biological organism in concert with neuroamplification serum formula #R-25J12 to determine if the biological organism would exert mental control over the framework without destroying either the organism or the framework. He projected the impact to be minimal, so he requested a low-security bioenclosure.

After performing his experiment on Kuba, the badly injured creature escaped its enclosure, and wandered into Simic territory. Presumably, Kelen Jek rated his experiment a success, as the snapjaw had been successfully installed with skeleton-enhancing implants without its mind succumbing to the process.
